Minecraft is Closing in on 140 Million Monthly Active Users

Hello, here’s your semi-frequent reminder that Minecraft is quite large. https://minecraft-servers.cc/ Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s chief executive officer, announced that Mojang’s build’em-up had nearly 140 million active users per month between January 1, and March 31, during the most recent financial update. However, the number of engaged players Minecraft has right now is 30 percent higher than the same time last year.

Nadella also explains that Minecraft creators have made more than $350 million from “more than one billion downloads of mods, add-ons, and other experiences in Minecraft”. That’s not including activity outside of Microsoft’s marketplace, neither.

The pandemic has likely led to an increase in players for Minecraft however there are a lot of other factors that are generating interest, too. Last year , we saw Mojang’s bloated take on Diablo, Minecraft Dungeons, and this year we’ll be getting the Caves and Cliffs update in two parts. Mojang previously explained it decided to split the update in two to ensure quality, manage technical complexity, and keep the development team well-maintained. You can expect to see some of the new mobs and blocks in the summer months, and the more complex components related to world generation in the festive season.

In Microsoft’s financial statement the company says it earned $41.7 billion in revenue, which is an increase of 19% on the same period in the previous year.

“Over a year after the pandemic began, digital adoption curves aren’t slowing down. They’re increasing and it’s only the beginning,” Nadella says.
